The Limousin Society of South Africa’s objectives are as follows:
Promote fertility and reproduction in the breed. Fertility is the first priority as it accounts for 60% of herd performance. The minimum standards are thus as follows:
- Age First Calf < 39 months
- Inter-Calving Period > 640 days
- Days last Calf < 640 days
- Scrotal Circumference > 34cm @ 24months or 600kg

• Ensure all registered breeders participate in performance testing to allow for the genetic improvement of the Limousin. Our EBV goals are as follows:
• Use Breedplan more effectively
• Market the Limousin in South Africa through:
- Involvement of major role-players in the beef industry
- Competing in carcase competitions
- Competing in the Interbreed ring
- Advertisements with a clear marketing message
- Informative internet site
• Continually make the necessary changes to our constitution to align with our objectives.
• Promote knowledge through regular educational courses and training.
• Promote unity and enthusiasm for the breed through effective communication between breeders and the Society
• Ensure that all animals meet the requirements of the Limousin Standards of Excellence through regular herd visits and inspections.
• Fulfil all the requirements of the Animal Improvement Act of 1998.
• Continually revamp and update our internet site
